About GardensWise
Our mission
GardensWise exists for one reason: most houseplant advice online is vague, contradictory, or simply wrong. "Water once a week," "needs bright light," "mist daily" — these one-size-fits-all instructions kill more plants than they save. We started this site to do better, by writing care guides that are clear, honest, and grounded in how plants actually work.
We believe anyone can keep plants alive once the guesswork is removed. Our goal is to give you the why behind each recommendation so you can read your own plants and conditions, rather than blindly following a schedule.
What we cover
Our growing library focuses on the fundamentals that make the biggest difference: watering correctly, understanding light, repotting, propagation, and dealing with pests. Every guide is written for real homes — ordinary apartments and houses, not greenhouses — and for people with busy schedules and imperfect conditions.
Our editorial standards
We take accuracy seriously. Every guide on GardensWise is:
- Researched against horticultural sources and established plant science, not just recycled from other blogs.
- Written in plain language, with the reasoning explained rather than hidden behind jargon.
- Reviewed and updated over time as we learn more and as reader questions reveal gaps. Each article shows its last-updated date.
- Honest about limits. When something depends on your specific plant or conditions, we say so instead of pretending there is a single right answer.
How we stay free
All of our content is free to read. To keep it that way, GardensWise is supported by advertising and, where relevant, affiliate links. These never influence our recommendations — we describe how to care for plants the same way whether or not a product is involved. You can read the details in our disclaimer and privacy policy.
